Preschool Programs at OFS San Rafael

Chelsea Bryson, Program Director

OFS San Rafael is a Spanish-English bilingual program with children receiving classroom time in both languages. Our children come to us with a variety of home languages, and are supported in continued and increasing competency. Each classroom has one primary English-speaking teacher and one primary Spanish-speaking teacher, who co-lead a curriculum designed around children's interests with the goal of developing receptive and expressive skills in both languages, as well as the key social-emotional and academic skills that the children in all of our programs learn to begin their growth into informed, engaged, and compassionate citizens of the world.

Applications are given to families who attend a tour or Open House. Tours are offered throughout the late fall and winter. Spaces are normally offered in March, or on a rolling basis should a space open up mid-year. The application fee is $55.

Children in our toddler program (Luna Room) attend 5 days per week; children in the preschool program (Chocolate or Colibri rooms) may attend 2, 3, 4, or 5 days per week. Part-time schedules are available for 2s and preschoolers. Priority is given to families needing full-day care.

Preschool Program

At Old Firehouse School, we believe that initiative, language, and thinking skills predict much about each child’s future academic and social development.  We have a ratio of 1:9 in our preschool classrooms.

We offer both half-day and full-day programs in our preschool program.  Priority is given to families needing full-day care.
